As was widely reported on Monday, November 23, 2015, Dell has shipped PC’s and laptops with a security exposure over the last few months.
The issue is described in the following article: http://arstechnica.com/security/2015/11/dell-does-superfish-ships-pcs-with-self-signed-root-certificates/.
Essentially, the security exposure involves a preinstalled digital certificate that makes it simple for hackers to impersonate various HTTPS-protected websites. As soon as Cohn Consulting Corporation received these reports, in a matter of hours, we formulated a fix to remove the exposure and rolled it out to all of our Cohn Care™ managed clients.
All affected Dell PC’s and laptops for our Cohn Care™ managed clients have either already been fixed or will receive the fix as soon as they go online. This is yet another example of how our Cohn Care™ Gold and Cohn Care™ Platinum managed IT services provide the best protection possible for our clients.
As a Cohn Care™ managed client, you can rest assured that we have already provided protection against this exposure as part of the comprehensive managed security included in your Cohn Care™ Gold or Cohn Care™ Platinum service.
If you are not yet a Cohn Care™ managed client, please call (770) 225-0584 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the form on this page to get started. We’ll be happy to schedule a meeting to discuss what Cohn Care™ hassle-free managed IT can do for your business.
“[Your] professionalism in dealing with this situation at the Zero hour is definitely a rarity. Your team’s response was to take on a project that you had no prior knowledge of other than a customer was in a tight spot and needed assistance.”
